THE PRESENT ORGAN

[1]

The present organ of the church was originally constructed in Temesvár, in the factory of Lipót Wegenstein and his Son in 1908 (2 manuals, pedalboard, 16 or 17 stops, pneumatic action). This was broadened in 1928 by Ottó Rieger, organ-builder in Budapest , with the addition of 5 (or 6) stops, and with the construction of a new console. In 1981 István Koloss, László Fehér and János Varga - as it was usual in the period - turned the originally romantic sound of the organ into baroque. In 1991-92 Béla Bánffy and his colleagues attached an electronic console to the instrument. (The detailed history and description of the organ see below.)

The organ has 1550 pipes at present, out of which 1472 pipes can be sounded (in theory). Other features: 22 stops, electropneumatic action (with a significant delay), 2x18 adjustable combination system: A, B, C, 1-6 (manual thumb-pistons), which can be doubled by turning a key on the console .
